The Posey Dress- pattern by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns

I was recently asked to sew up this darling pattern that was recently featured in One Thimble Ezine, The Posey Dress by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns. Those sweet flutter sleeves sparked my creativity and I ran with it. Kenzie loves tea parties, and this fabric from Michael Miller was the perfect pairing for the pattern (say that 10 times fast!).

If you haven’t noticed yet, flutter sleeves are totally on trend for this Spring. I’ve dabbled with the flutter in the past (Princess Delaysen Flutter Sleeve Top), but this pattern just took the detail to a higher level.

If you know my style at all, you know I have a thing for big bows. I big gushy heart big bows. In my eyes, the bigger the better! The best way to tie off an item (literally) is with a large and in charge bow sash. This allows for a full skirt but a fitted bodice with no gaping in the back. The Posey Dress pattern did not disappoint!

My most favorite feature in this pattern, that I unfortunately didn’t take a photo of, was the placket construction for the skirt. I have sewn many a plackets in my days, and none even came close to providing a polished, neat and professional finish. Seriously, if you are a sewist looking for that perfect placket construction, you NEED this pattern. Trust me.

I was so honored to be able to create something lovely with this pattern and am tickled to give the Frilly Vest a go this week! Stay tuned for a blog post about that precious pattern from the same designer, also featured in the second issue of One Thimble!
