Women’s Aviator Pants by Winter Wear Designs

Let’s first discuss a current trend that needs a little facelift: yoga pants. Sure they are comfy, sure they are easy to get on and off, sure they are forgiving when you indulge in that entire pint of Ben & Jerry’s…but they really aren’t flattering unless paired with a long tunic to cover your bum and hips. I’m shooting straight with you- yoga pants just need a little pick-me-up. Behold, the Women’s Aviator Pants by Winter Wear Designs. I sewed up a beachy cover up version, but if you check out the listing and see all the various options- this pattern will become your new fashion-forward yoga pant addiction.

The pattern has a HUGE range of sizes, Suzanne (designer of WWD) is so thoughtful to consider every body type and size in her designs. A size chart, finished measurement chart, measuring tips and fabric requirements are all found on the beginning pages of the pattern. There are also directions for lengthening the leg, the rise and combining sizes for a custom tailored fit. Crop them to capris, or keep them long for the chilly weather ahead! I can’t recall what cold feels like, so here’s a beachy shot to warm your day!

The waistband is a knit yoga waistband. Hello comfortable!! The pant waist hits at the perfect spot just below the belly for a slimming look. The hem of the pants are knit cuffs, with option to leave loose or gathered.

These aren’t your typical jogger pant, there are super fashionable details included that are perfect for a girl on the go. Different pocket options: slash, welt, cargo, curved cargo, all with pattern pieces and directions for customization. My favorite detail (not shown on my tester pair) is the triangle contrast at the hem. It looks awesome in coordinating fabric, or just as added dimension in the main fabric.

I needed a quick pair to toss in my beach bag to keep my bum covered as I run the kids from the beach to the car. I made mine out of a fabulous coral crinkle gauze that is light and airy, perfect for this fall heat in Hawaii! This pattern is so versatile it doesn’t have to be made from all knits!

So go ahead, toss out those VS yoga pants with the bedazzled butt (you know you have some in your closet). Snag this pattern, a yard and a half or so of your favorite knit or suiting, and a few hours of your day and you’ll have the most fashionable, comfiest, pair of pants you’ve ever owned!

I was privileged to test this pair for Winter Wear Designs, and cannot WAIT to make gobs more!
