Gracie by Blaverry

When you have to move from Hawaii, a part of your heart longs for the beach on a daily basis. Thankfully, our new spot in California isn’t too far from the ocean and we can continue on with our beachy-photo set up! The girls and I went exploring in Del Mar to find this cute and cozy beach, spotless on a rainy day like yesterday! Thankfully the sun started to break through the clouds just as we climbed down the rocky path and out onto the soft, cool sand. In comes Gracie, the most darling, slim fit, knit raglan dress from Blaverry patterns.

I’ll get into details in a moment, but let’s cut to the best feature- the nice sized kangaroo pouch pocket that my girls couldn’t keep their hands out of! Maybe it was the brisk 70 degree day, or the fact that the adore all the pockets on all the dresses! I love the cute skirt flounce that makes it a fresh and girly style!

Gracie is written for girls sizes 2t to 16y and includes a child’s measurement chart (chest and waist only) along with finished measurement chart (length and chest only). The designer uses the layer printing option so I only selected the sizes I needed to print and saved paper and ink! The tutorial features digital images for the pattern construction rather than real-life photos.  I enjoy the succinct and direct style of the tutorial, definitely written for the advanced sewist who doesn’t require hand-holding. Blaverry styles remind me of what I see at the Nordstrom kids department- clean lines, tailored fit and simple fashion. My girls adore their Gracie’s and I enjoy a good, fast, sew so there will be many more to come!

Gracie is a quick sew for those comfortable working with knit fabrics. I chose this really great cotton/spandex blend from Joann’s in a navy/emerald anchor print, a super summery pink and emerald stripe from the Doodles collection and tied both dress together with a emerald interlock. I got home only to realize how Ralph Lauren-esq these dresses were turning out! I’m sure he’d be proud.
