{Gnome Matter What!} Blog Tour: Everyday Elodie

Tour Graphic (1).jpg

Hey friends! I’m joining the stellar round up of sewing bloggers for the Gnome Matter What! Blog tour hosted by Izzy and Ivy Designs for Ink & Arrow Fabrics. Be sure to check the tour schedule at the end of the post and find the link to the *giveaway* as well!

The Gnome Matter What! fabric collection features darling little gnomes and other lawn figurines, sketchbook floral and snail prints and great blenders like dots and vines! I love the colors included in this collection: lilac, seafoam, subtle oranges, blues, and neutrals. Really great for spring!

For the blog tour, I chose to sew up the new Elodie pattern by Violette Field Threads. Since my girls have a growing collection of Elodie dresses already, I decided to play a little bit with the pattern. This is the sleeveless, everyday version with some creative additions.

I added a ruffle along the sweetheart bodice overlay by cutting a long 2″ strip of the Set Vines in Dark Seafoam, pressing the strip in half and gathering along the raw edge. When I make this modification again, I will lower the sweetheart shape to account for the added height in the ruffle because I kind of think it ended up too high at her neck 😦 Bummer dude.

Another modification I made was to switch the lengths of the main skirt and skirt lining. I wanted the Square Dot Blender in Lilac to peek out below the Sketchbook Garden main skirt. To do this, I swapped the cut lengths of the main skirt and skirt lining, and then reduced the lengths so the skirt and lining hem was just a simple 1/4″ hem versus the 2″ vintage style hem in the original pattern.

How cute is this Sketchbook Garden print? I love the subtle graph paper background (the previous math teacher in me is doing the happy dance). I also love the sketched flowers and stems, cute little snails, and soft splashes of color.

  1. I think the ruffle looks great, not too high at all. On another note, I think I didn’t know the math teacher background… that’s what I do in real life.
