Orchid x Parasol Romper for Lugu Fabrics Blog Tour

I’m sew happy it’s spring- which means it’s ROMPER season!!! I’ve been seeing a cross-front shorts romper all over my Pinterest and just had to recreate the look for the Lugu Fabrics Blog Tour. I was so thrilled to be invited to participate in this talent-packed blog tour hosted by the fabric designer, Jessica Swift.

You can read all about the tour and follow along each day, starting with Jessica’s intro post. Let’s take a look at my romper!!

Lugu Fabrics: Luminia Dusk Rayon

I absolutely LOVE sewing with Art Gallery Rayon. It has the best drape and smooth feel. It sews up with little fuss. It washes and wears easily and doesn’t wrinkle terribly while worn. It isn’t see through enough that a lining is needed. Pretty much all around the perfect apparel substrate for summer!

Orchid x Parasol Romper

I used the Orchid x Parasol pattern collaboration from Chalk & Notch with Ensemble Patterns to make this romper. I chose to make the Orchid bodice sleeveless, and added 1″ to the bottom portion of the bodice pieces to lengthen the torso. I’m 5’8 and well about the drafted height so I’ve learned to always add length to the torso and rise for rompers! But that’s the great part about sewing for yourself…the garment will always be a better fit than store-bought!

I used the Parasol shorts and extended my size pieces all the way to the biggest size for the length. When I made my jumpsuit last fall, I noticed that the rise was a bit too short without this modification. The last adjustment I made was to take up the shorts hem about 1.5″ so that the bottom of the shorts hit at the narrow part of my thigh. I like my shorts to hit just before my thighs get wider for the most flattering fit!

I love the adjustable waist tie to really help pull the romper close to the body.
